Maginot Static Profile Build Problems - Previous/Next Links

Postby Dale Ray » Thu Jun 24, 2004 7:01 pm

Coranto V 1.22.1
Maginot V 14

Other addons:

Backup
Chameleon cra_chameleon.pl (Beta 2)A
ChangeDateNew cra_changedatenew.pl (3.3)
Extractor cra_extractor.pl (build 3)
FaceLift cra_facelift.pl (3.1)
Field Helper cra_fieldhelper.pl (1.0)
MultiPage cra_multipage.pl (1.51)
Profile Copier cra_cpyprof.pl (1.01 (build 2))
Sort Orders cra_sortorders.pl (2.3)
Template Editor cra_tmpl.pl (1.01)
Tintinnabulum cra_tintinnabulum.pl (1.0)
WebWriter cra_webwriter.pl (3.2) · [Docs] [WebSite]
X MultiSubmit cra_xmultisubmit.pl (2.1)

With auto build on: and this code in my style:
Code: Select all
<a href="<Field: PrevFileURL>">Previous</a> | <a href="<Field: NextFileURL>">Next</a>

The previous/next links are not completed when an item is modified. The directory url ends up in the page created with no filename. Doing a FULL rebuild does create the complete link.

Also, is there a way to do "wrap around" linking using Maginot Static profiles. So the if you are on the first item and previous you are taken to the last item and if on the last item and hit next you go to the first item?

I think you want <Field: PrevSplit> and <Field: NextSplit>?

Yeah, there are not split but static profiles.

But don't feel too bad, I've been around these forums over 18 months and posted this to the wrong Category

The previous/next links are not completed when an item is modified. The directory url ends up in the page created with no filename. Doing a FULL rebuild does create the complete link.

Well, this *is* a known fact and actually documented in the addon (via the Addon Manager):
<Field: PrevFileURL> : the URL of the previous file in the profile.Only set if you use something other than the default filter. NOT USEFUL IF AUTO-BUILD IS ON.
<Field: NextFileURL> : the URL of the next file in the profile.Only set if you use something other than the default filter. NOT USEFUL IF AUTO-BUILD IS ON.

That is because when autobuild is turned on only that newsitem is being build, Maginot does not know the previous/next newsitem at that moment. Doing a full rebuild makes Maginot "aware" of the surrounding newsitems.

We all have bad days from time to time, no problem...

But I don´t understand why you think this post is in the wrong category, it is about an addon and you needed help?
[EDIT]Doh, now I see what you mean... Maybe I am having a bad day too? ;-)[/EDIT]
