NewsPro: how to avoid displaying all news when viewing one n

Hello, I hope you'll be so good to help me as the official NewsPro forums are down...
I am using NewsPro 3.8 and as I have been adding news the pages got REALLY heavy, so now when I click on a news and the page with all the news opens it takes forever... Can somebody tell me how I can make newspro show only the last X news?

Marc: DO you know, it is so long since I last used NewsPro I can't for the life of me remember how to do this?

I just checked for you and the closest I saw offhand was this. Log into NewsPro and click "Change Settings". Select to Archive or Hide old news, as you prefer. Select a certain number of days after which news is old (so the less news you want on your main page, the smaller you should make this number). If you chose to archive news, select the archive type as monthly (so you'll get lots of smaller archive files, rather than one huge one).

Yes I tried that but it doesn't work...

As you can see at http://www.chaindlk.com in the NEWS DATABASE section if you click on any news it will still bring you into a page where all the news are present and it will just go to your selection with anchor links, after 5 minutes to load all the news went by ;-(

That page contains news that is 2 months old! If you enable archiving and build news you should be able to make the page much, much shorter...

OK, I'm trying to help you here, but you have to understand that a) I've not touched NewsPro more than twice in the last 18 months, and b) I have no idea what your setup is. Perhaps if you describe it in detail, we'll have a better chance of helping you?

Instead of "Change Settings" go to "Advanced Settings".
Look for NumberLimit, its just below Enable Glossary and above EnableHeadlines.

Now if you set NumberLimit to 10, your news.txt will only show your last 10 stories. Dont forget to press Build News after you change any settings.

While i agree with you - Newscat ][ is great - i think he can achieve this with a default Newspro installation.
