PHP (or ASP) alternative to Coranto?

Postby mat_beard » Wed Jun 16, 2004 8:23 pm

Sorry if this has been covered before, but can anyone recommend a PHP or ASP alternative to Coranto?

I realise there are hundreds of news scripts out there, but none seem to offer the flexibility of Coranto. Specifically, I need multiple categories and the ability to customise the fields.

I've developed several sites based on Coranto in the past, and I think it's great, but the company I'm working for now uses a Windows-based host that doesn't support Perl.

I could develop something myself, because I only really use the back-end features of Coranto, and extract content directly from the database (CorantoSQL), but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

Any recommendations (not including a change of host) would be appreciated.

Don´t have a personal experience with any ASP or PHP based CMS, but if you are running on a windows server I would recommend using ASP instead of PHP.

Still, if you would like to check out PHP based CMS's you might want to take a look at http://www.opensourcecms.com/

I agree with faithless though, strange to have support for PHP but not Perl. ;-)
Yes, I am still around...

Don't know why I didn't try it sooner. Although the host doesn't mention anything about Perl, it just works, and so does the SQL addon.

Now I've just got to remember how to get everything working right -- it's almost 2 years since I last used Coranto.
