members addon?

Postby driv » Thu May 06, 2004 5:31 pm

Hi
(I've been searching though the forums and add-on pages but I've found nothing)

I was wondering if there is such a thing as a 'members' addon?

I mean something that allows users to register or become a 'member' of the site?

Any ideas?
Thanks,
d.

What do you see would be the benefit for a user to become a member of the site? Being able to post news? Then the addons Guestpost and Approval Manager could be something for you to look into... Or some other function/feature? Please elaborate...
Yes, I am still around...

Hi,
...and thanks for your feedback.

What I'm trying to do, is build a (part of my) site where a company can post a job advertisment, and a user can either post their resume or wait for me to email them with suitable positions for them.

This would mean that both companies and users would need to be registered with the site to prevent spamming.

(It also means that people get jobs without having to pay recruiters! :o I don't charge for this.)

Anyway, my current train of thought is....

If a recruiter registers with an official looking email address such as fred @techpeople***.com it's less likely to be a spammer...?

Well, rightly or wrongly - that's what I would like to do.

Hope this explains things??? Probably not :(

thanks for listening,
d.

Well as Parahead said, GuestPost and Approval Manager would be all you need.

With Approval Manager, you can easily put all guest posted items in an "Approval Queue", for you to check them out before they are posted on your site. Then it won't matter if tech-Fred turns out to be a bad guy.

Just in case, you'll probably wont some kind of time limit between postings also...

Post Denial Beta 4 maybe? Don´t use it myself so I don´t know how well it works in conjuction with GuestPost though, since setting a timelimit on IP (and/or with a cookie?) instead of userid should be the prefered choice in this case...
