Coranto 1.30.6 / 1.30.7

Postby cerberos76_ » Wed Nov 10, 2004 4:07 am

Hello everyone,
a new version of the script, the alpha 1.30.6 is ready for public testing!
Download it at:
http://www.-.net/public/cr/downloads/coranto_1_30_6.zip

EDIT:
Please download the version 1.30.7 instead! This version fixed a small typo causing an error in profile management (as reported by Dayle Ray below):
http://www...net/public/cr/downloads/coranto_1_30_7.zip

Full details inside the script, but here are few of the main changes with respect to previous alphas:

- full language support from setup to administration
- new less cluttered folderstructure (/addons, /languages),
- new safer method for nsetting saving
- many internal features (true alphabetical sorting, autofocus at login, showaddons option etc).

with respect to 1.24, there are lots of advantages in the profile file management, with much lower risks of file truncation and a better set-up routine!

Plus many small bug fixes!
please try it at your risk as usal with alpha testing!

A version based on a core close to this has been tested for months on a couple of sites, but please make backups if you intend to run on anything live...

And if you speak any foreign language and wish to help... please check out the file crlang.pl, or go directly here:
http://www.-.net/cgi-bin/cr/tra/cr_translate.pl
where you can input your language easily.

thanks for your help!

Default install, no addons. Running locally WinXP, Apache2, Perl V 5.8.1

This is what I see when I view the profiles page:

Image

Clicking on the enable buton for the profile with the empty name prints this message:

Error: Invalid profile information

Edit: The no name profile does not show up when viewed in Firefox.

I get the following error when clicking on "General Settings" for the news profile:

Untrapped Error: Subroutine main::EditProfDefinition encountered a compile error during autoload: syntax error at (eval 6) line 26, next token ???syntax error at (eval 6) line 26, near "DisplayLink">' . join('', map { qq~<option value=""

The archives setting page does appear when that link is clicked.
Submissions to the news profile are built.
Edit: Error shows up in IE 6 and Firefox 1.0.
Edit: new profiles can be created, but trying to edit the setting results in the same error.

Ok.
a) Was it a brand new install?
b) Did you copy on your server the /languages folder?

Yes it was a new install.

Yes, I copied the languages folder.

I see you have released a revision. I will download now and test later.

cerberos76 added his answers into my original questions. I have added his name before his comments to clarify.

cerberos76 : Good tester!

Why is the related news field built in? Why can't it be deleted?

cerberos76: it was a left over from an earlier testing session... I will remove it from crcfg.dat (you can do it manually as well in the meantime).

I seem to remember that the 1.30.x series was going to allow the changing of the file extension when ising a template. I don't see this anywhere.

cerberos76: yes, you can do that. Just insert your custom output file in full (i.e. myoutput.myextension) in the output file name and that is what will be created.

Some of the settings names look like they are just using the variable name and are less than clear. There is no explantion of what the setting does.

cerberos76: Well, that should not be like it... It must be a sall bug coming from the localisation of strings... I will correct it.

I don't know what tmpluserfile is. Edit Is this the output file name?
If tmpltitle is what I think it isd couldn't it be called "Page Title"

cerberos76: once the small expalantaion paragraph will reappear everything will be clearer...

Can the "Advanced Profile Settings" be moved above the headlines settings? It does not seem right to have them in this order.

cerberos76: I think they always have been there for a simple reason: Advanced options are optional... if you don't use them you can skip about them.
In order of "importance" the headlines are much more used, and this is why they were presented there.

I don't know why it shows as posted by you... but I have written this answer.. cerberos76

EDIT2: I must have pressed the edit button instead of quote!
Sorry for cutting your text... Anyway I understood your requests and these small things will be corrected in the next version.
If you find anyting else, please post it!

The 1.30.6 and 1.30.7 cores have been withdrawn as a member of this community has chosen to reverse his pledge to surrender legal rights to his code in those cores, and is now making legal threats.

These cores have been removed from this site, and that user has been permanently banned from the community.
