Seeing Double - News posts

Postby Gcampos » Wed Dec 20, 2006 9:53 pm

I am redesigning a webpage and the only thing I am changing (coranto) is: enabling headlines, although I also changed the paths cause I am using a different folder.

Anyways, I am seeing a double post of news, almost on top of each other, yet I dont have two instances of includes in the webpage. Dont have a clue as to why this is happening, could it be the enabled headlines?

Thanks,

Gerry

Can you post the source of the web page? (before it is processed by the server)

Can you post your style code?

What style are you using for the headlines?

Looking at the source of your page as delivered to the browser I am seeing the same two newsitems each displayed twice.

My first guess is that you are trying to include the headlines at the top of the page so that they link to the articles below. You are including the headline text file and the article text file into the .shtml page, but are using the same style for both.

As you can see there is no headline includes on this page

Can you post your style code?

Code: Select all
<center>
<b>
<font size="5" face="Arial">
<Field: CustomField_Town_City_CB></font><br>

<font size="3" face="Arial">
<Field: CustomField_Date></font><br><br>

<font size="4" face="Arial">
<Field: CustomField_SpecAnnounce_CB></font><br>

<font size="2" face="Arial">
<Field: CustomField_CartelCB></font><br><br>

<font size="2" face="Arial">
<Field: CustomField_InfoDirCB></font><br>

<font size="2" face="Arial">
<Field: CustomField_FootNotesCB></font>
</b>
<hr noshade color="#000000" size="3" width="80%">
</center>

What style are you using for the headlines?

I am using the default HL style with a couple edits/adds:

Code: Select all
<font size="2" face="Arial"><strong><Field: Subject></strong><br>
<Field: Month_Name> <Field: Month_Day><br>
<Field: Hour>:<Field: Minute> <Field: AMPM><br>
<Snip 10: Field: CustomField_CartelCB></font><br>

Looking at the source of your page as delivered to the browser I am seeing the same two newsitems each displayed twice.

yeah I see that also, just dont know why there are two news items, yet I dont have any headlines on that page.

Nope, have headlines on main page, and article on another page, two different styles.

I do though have a secondary install of coranto, in another folder, but dont see how that is revelant, or is it.

Thanks,

Gerry

If each file you are including is the result of a different profile please add this to the top of the style you are using:
Code: Select all
<PerlCode>
$mycomment = "";
if (not $counter{$ProfileName}) {
$mycomment = "<!-- Output for Profile: $ProfileName Begins Here -->";
$counter{$ProfileName} = 1;
}
</PerlCode>
<If: Field: mycomment><Field: mycomment></If>

It will print the profile name in an html comment at the top of the profile output. This will enable you to see which profile is outputting which text that ends up on your page easily. You can change the comment text to suit your needs. You want to put this in the style so that you get the actual profile name being processed, not the one you think is being processed. This will catch a problem if you use the wrong filename by mistake. It will only display the comment once at the beginning of the profile's output.

If you are using Maginot rename all of the possible output files or move them to a backup directory and build news (may take a full rebuild). Maginot does not remove the output files if there is no output the next time news is built, so you may be getting old files included by mistake.

That did it, found the profile in reference and I looked at it and found that it had no categories selected, corrected and refreshed. Thanks a bunch.

I think I know when it happened, I was changing the file path on all profiles, and was doing it kinda fast, I must have clicked inside that text field and removed the category. Without that code I wouldnt have figured it out, now I will include it in all profiles.

Thanks again,

Gerry
