When the newsdat.txt file gets to big

Postby NYSportsDay » Wed Mar 21, 2007 5:10 pm

Any suggestions besides pruning it?

I have a very large site, which I would like to keep all the data from the last three years, but unfortunately the newsdat file gets too big and it times out the server.

Any help would be welcomed.

- Doublecheck if there are any profiles you don't need, or can disable for some builds.
- Turn off automatic building for as many profiles as you can.
- Try the autobuild.cgi script available here (you have to manually give the downloaded file a .zip extension). Try running it from the command line.
- Reconsider your hardware.

I've heard of sites running newsdat.txt > 50 megabytes, so this shouldn't really be a problem...
Coranto is free software. I am available for custom work or troubleshooting.

When newsdat.txt became more than 10 Mb, the Coranto had many problems with it. After that I switched to MySQL and till now all works just fine. Now DB size about 15 Mb.
