Issues logging into system

Postby Paulm » Wed Nov 07, 2007 5:11 am

When trying to login to my Coranto today I noticed the CSS was not displaying and when I tried to login I kept getting the wrong login error although I knew I was using the correct credentials.

So I checked my nsettings.cgi and it was 0 bytes, recreated it using the nsbk.cgi file and the login page loaded fine and allowed me to login.

There is where the odd part starts, once logged in when you click on any option it brings you back to the login screen, again with no css and gives you the invalid login error.

I check nsettings.cgi again and it is 0 bytes, I do this 2-3 times and same result each time..

So I copy the backup again, throw a chattr +i on it so it cant be changed and it allows me to login again but I get a slew of other issues due to the fact the script needs to write to nsettings.cgi.

Has anyone else ran into this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your harddisk running low on space?

I also checked the sites diskspace quota which is using 110MB of 160MB so I don't think only having 50MB free would cause this.

Hm... I've heard about the occasional truncation of nsettings.cgi, but not the kind of permanent behaviour you're experiencing. Just to be sure, could you try the following:

1. Replace nsettings.cgi with nsbk.cgi.
2. Empty your browser's cache and clear all authenticated sessions.
3. Log in.

Also, the other issues you have when you chattr +i nsettings.cgi, are they anything in particular or just general Coranto complaining about not being able to write to the file?

Thank you for your help! It actually ended up being that the disk quota on the site was at 100% and that was not allowing the nsettings.cgi to be re-written when it needed.
