Problem displaying "NEW" indicator next to a news

I agree with bozoka45, kind of you to post the solution. Maybe the two FAQ-tips below is of interest to you as well? If not, providing the links can at least serve as extra reading for anyone else interested in this thread... :-)

Display a "NEW" indicator next to a news item
Indicate how many days ago a news item was posted next to the news item

it doesn't work for me at all....

I put the step 1 into the header of all pages of the site, and all other codes, but it never shows "NEW".....

I just provided links to the FAQ-pages, I am not responsible for the code there... However, I just want to verify that you understand the purpose? The "NEW" indicator is only presented the first time a user enteres the page, the second time it is treated as "old" news. Pretty much like the NEW indicator here in the forum...
