If I was writting a review with 30 pictures how?

Postby Esstee » Wed Jun 15, 2005 12:55 pm

I am planning a review section (category) on my site.
it will cover new engineering technologies and equipment.

normally when people write these the images range from between
10 and 30 pictures.

I was thinking if there was a way to load up images slots in a custom
page first then using the tags to enter them using quicktags could work
if you had the images lay'd out in front of you in a popup window or
something with all the images and there id's so we could use them
as a guide to place our images.

I was looking at XMS the addon it seems like it could do that but
the moment I jump from one sumbit screen to the next my image
previews are cleared... if it didn't do that I would be laughing because I
could refer back to my image submission screen to place whatever
images in whatever location! :D

Well thats my challenge for today
I went deeper into the belly of Coranto and look! I found maginot.

No addon is currently really made for this kind of thing, but can't you use the Upload Manager page which Multipart gives you to present your images in a sort of "popup window" when you post your newsitem? Basically you click on the Opload Manager page and open it in a new window and then in that you browse the upload tree, and in the normal Coranto window you submit the newsitem?

if only multipart could...

Show GD thumb support, my host installed NetPBM never could get it working.
Allow us insert image tags anywhere in the Text field and not only at the end.
Offer image placement ex: (left middle right) when pressing insert image.
    Had a popup window option

That could really work!

Do I hear a small amount of sarcasm here?

Some of your listissues can be solved, we have actually discussed them in other threads, remember? Anyway, the FCKeditor mentioned elsewhere in this forum has quite good image support with uploading and browsing possibilities included, would that editor be a good thing for you to use?

Anyway, if/when kriko creates a replacement for the Webwriter addon I put my vote on that editor.

Never!
I have the outmost respect for all the folk who have contributed to Coranto.
although I have no problems spreading some fun when the timing is right
you will not see any sarcasm on my part on these forums.

The proper term would be excitement ;)

As for the ideal editor (I think...) and this is a matter of opinion so I don't
want to sound like im pushing the product but html area coupled with image
manager would do the trick, because they not only offer image upload and
editing functions but you get full drag and drop access with it, so what one
could do is create an upfront link to the popup image viewer and simply
drag and drop the images into the document...

one drawback that comes to mind is, that the image manager natively
only offers 1 file upload, but we are not limited to that software to get the
images into the proper dirs so its not that big of a deal... one could setup
a 10 or 15 slot upload page with XSM or something similar.

thats what I think :)

BTW retooling the lastest htmlarea + image manager would satisfy a
multitude of addons. image upload, quick links, news preview, wysiwig
and much more I can't think of. It would need custom button options
though so that we could add extra html or CSS attributes at the click
of a button :D
