Why doesn't pressing return make a <br> or <p>

Postby Esstee » Mon May 30, 2005 1:20 pm

I am just curious, I can make a tag using quicktags to insert a line break
or carriage return but I can;t help but wonder if there isn't a setting that
makes conranto put ina <br> or <p> when you press enter in a text field?

I hope no one looked this :?

I found it, and it was right where I would of expected to find it ;)

However, when I enabled it, my text wrapping feature seems to of
been altered "?" I have my text entry fields set to a specific width
according to my news layout and when I enabled the enter = <br>
option the text forces side scrolling into my entry field.

is this a bug or there is another setting I missed to avoid this?

Coranto automatically creates a <br> or <br /> (depending on your settings) whenever there is a return. It only happens in post-processing, when it puts it in a style, so you won't see it actually placed inside the submission while typing it.

As for <p>, well, I never really do that as I usually use one <p> to define the font settings of the whole content and use <br> to break up lines. If you really want to do that, you'll pretty much need to be doing it manually. I just never used multiple <p> tags throughout a submission.

On your SECOND post, are you using a <div> to do the job? If so, the reason is there is a word with lots of letters, and the <div> is using an overflow:scroll setting. Simply edit the <div> so it is <div style="width:##px; overflow:visible;"> text text text </div>
