Snip Idea

Postby LoneOwl » Sun Mar 17, 2002 3:05 am

With snip, it only snips until the last word right? How hard would it be to snip by characters, going until the last sentance? Using all the standard puncutation marks for ending a sentance. One key problem(one that's appart for the wwf.com results page) is ending a sentance with "Mr." instead of using that as a word, not end of sentance. I think that could be preferable for a summary and maginot split page, although finding paragraphs could be better then. Anyway, what does everyone think?

Once upon a time there was a giraffe named herbert, and he had a long neck. One day while herbert was tromping through the forest, he stepped on a little root, and tripped. while he was laying on the ground, a chipmunk named elmer came over and told him that he had better get his bony behind up because Jeffer the Lion was on the prowl. Suddenly, Jeffer burst throught the hedge and ate elmer. The moral of the story is Jeffer is mean, elmer is a cool guy, and herbert is a good name for a band. The End

You'll notice it still doesn't fix the problem with Mr. or any other thing like that. Plus there are multiple ways to do paragraphs, return and indent, return(best with css indenting), double return.... So there isn't quite a standard method that covers what I've asked for in one addon or method or whatever.

On another note, anyone think it's likely a future update of Coranto will have the ability to pass arguments to subroutines? I don't think so, but anything's possible...

its kind of obvious how to switch between the different ways of doing paragraphs. also, just add an if to make sure that the last do letters were not mr. simple as that. but im lazy so ill do it tomorrow :-)
