Google News, each article URL must contain at least three di

Postby Elenzi » Sat Feb 16, 2008 8:19 am

hi i have a site with coranto ,my links appeared

http://www.ankavalas.gr/news/news_stati ... fAajWz.php

google answered me
Thank you for your note. We reviewed your site and are unable to include
it in Google News at this time. In order to have your articles crawled by
Google News, each article URL must contain at least three digits. For
example, our news crawler can't crawl an article with this URL:
http://www.google.com/news/article23.html. It can, however, crawl an
article with this URL: http://www.google.com/news/article234.html

Please note that if the only digits in your article URL resemble a year
(e.g. "1999" or "2007"), our system may not be able to crawl your content.

If you're able to restructure each of your URLs to include a number
consisting of at least three digits, Google News should automatically
begin indexing your content within a few days.

Use <field: newstime> instead of <field: newsid>

Yes, your old news will change URLs. One way to make a redirect from old news to new ones is to create a style for your old news, containing something like this:

Code: Select all
Redirect from old URL to new URL

If your site uses PHP, you can use PHP header function. In HTML you can use the meta refresh tag.

Then create a profile for all your old news. use this style and you will get one page at the old URL for each old news, but all of them will simply redirect to the new URL for the same news item.

at first thanks for your reply ,i read your answer but i dont have the knoelegement for this i search in forums i found this

Using .htaccess is the best option.

Code:
Redirect / http://www.yoururl.com/cgi-bin/admin

now i use this path for subject titles
<A HREF="http://www.ankavalas.gr/news/<Field: StaticDirectory>/<Field: newsid>.php" CLASS="Txtsmall"><B><Field: SnippedText><BR></B></A>

links http://www.ankavalas.gr/news/news_stati ... mqPvqu.php

if i do field:newstime and all changes is it possible change the file where news are now and put them in subdomain www.news.ankavalas.gr/articles

but coranto stay in old file in cgi-bin

if yes

in .htaccess what i must write if you can tell me please exactly paths according the info i gave you for my site

thanks alot

I see you use PHP as extension for your files. In that case it's very easy. Let me explain what you need to do:

1. Create a style, call it "old_news". Put the following in it:

Code: Select all
<?php
header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
header("Location: http://www.news.ankavalas.gr/articles/<field: newstime>.php")
?>

NOTE: header("...") should be on ONE line. You may change the Location: part to wherever you want to redirect your visitors.

2. Now create a Maginot profile (you should upgrade to the newest version of Maginot, 17). This profile should include ALL news, and the files should be built in the OLD directory (file names like this: /news/news_static/EkpFpVkuykvDmqPvqu.php) using the "old_news" style.

What happens is that you will have a list of files in the old directory like this:

EkpFpVkuykvDmqPvqu.php
EbaockjmNjdkvkDmqP.php
EplaVbNdoIpcLkgjhkjffY.php

(examples only)

Whenever people (OR GOOGLE!) open one of these files, they will get:

Code: Select all
<?php
header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
header("Location: http://www.news.ankavalas.gr/articles/200802030187463527.php")
?>

... and so they will be automatically redirected to the new files.

OK?
