Early Designs --> Am I going in the right direction???

The url is tentative, and so is the design. It's just going to be a personal blog site, and I can assure you there is a story to back up the rediculous theme I've chosen to design the site with.

So what do you think of the design? I haven't spent too much time on it yet, and would like to know what you guys think before I go ahead and put some time into this thing!

Only three comments:

1) Nice bright design.
2) Moving the cursor to the vertical scroll bar causes a horizontal scroll bar to appear.
3) On 800x600 there's no content before the "fold".

Haha, that seagull on my cursor would really get annoying after a while. Perhaps an on/off button?
