Unique Hardware RSS Help

Postby Dalponis » Sat Nov 01, 2003 6:31 pm

"Unique Hardware
server: www.uniquehardware.ca
location: uhnews.xml
port: 80

My website reviews computer hardware, and our news dept is getting bigger and better. We post science/computer/technology related things!"

Because of Coranto, I now have RSS news! Now if the plugin was only 2.0 compliant... Ohwel.. Thanks Coranto! Everybody! Add that to your RSS Feed program!

If you thank Coranto then why isnt a Powered by Coranto link on your website?

SUGGESTION: Why not have a larger range of Coranto images to link back to the site?

There's alot of people in the forum who could make some real hum-dingers.

Then mabey have a "Best Made Coranto Icon" picked for moral...

There arent many good designers around here. I bet Zygor could make some good looking, maybe I could do some too. Well, dragon has done his anyway. Sumaleth, well, he is a good designer but I wonder if he would make something for Coranto anyway.

You like Coranto but not the link. I mean, create a image or whatever, but just show that youre using Coranto so other people would come to us too. It is a small thanks to pay for all of the work Coranto coders have done.

Even without a link, add at least Powered by Coranto. interested persons will easily find their way trough web engines.

And for RSS 2.0, I already responded in another thred.
Having Rss 2.0 just beacuse you heard its name is a childish request. RSS 0.91 is widely used and supported everywhere (I mean everything that supports RSS 2.0 will support RSS 0.91).
So if you have precise requirements on the exact tags you would like to be added, jsut suggest those.
Coranto addons:
* GuestPost, one click guestposting
* MoveIt!, Advanced Backup and site transfer
* PartialRebuild, CPU-friendly enhancement of FullBuild
* URLColumn, URLs for multiple Categories/Profiles
* Tickit!, Javascript News Tickers/Faders for Coranto!
* AddonEnabler, enables or disables single, multiple or all addons in one go
* SubmitMultiple, post consecutive news in an automatic loop!
* RSSAdvanced, RelatedNews ....

Get them at: http://coranto.gweilo.org/addons/

Definitions for the word customer:
http://www.google.com/search?q=define:%20customer

more or less this explains it all: "One that purchases a commodity or service. Many organizations are changing their focus towards the customer and attempting to best meet and satisfy their needs."

are we selling a product or support service, I don't think so :P

Why not just make a simple powered by section that is on everypage? Notice http://www.ragewars.net and look in the bottom right side links there is an option called extra with what my site is powered by or using. It's nice, neat and very unobtrusive.

Image

I saw this "powered with"-image some time ago on a persons webpage, "Nice!" I thought, saved it and was ment to ask the person if it could be used by others, but forgott about it... Well, I like it and if we make a collection of Coranto-images maybe the person pops up and say we can use it?
Yes, I am still around...

Nope, but the dictionary definition doesn't require anything to be sold.

Source: The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition - "Informal. An individual with whom one must deal"

Also:

Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary - "A person with whom a business house has dealings; as, the customers of a bank."

Note that the same dictionary's definition of business allows non-commercial meaning:

"That which busies one, or that which engages the time, attention, or labor of any one, as his principal concern or interest, whether for a longer or shorter time"

"That which one has to do or should do; special service, duty, or mission"

In other words, Coranto users are our "customers" too, in a sense of the word. They pay for nothing, but their use of Coranto promotes the script to others, who in turn may come to us for assistance.
