It's PHP with a MySQL DB, a small script I heavily adapted/rewrote so that it would fit into the Coranto templates on this site.

Coranto writes the required PHP variable values to the pages as they are built, but the comments are managed/moderated separately from it.

ok i see, i think coranto really needs to look into a good comments system like yours.
